COMMUNITY SUPPORT

IN-kind donations

Eagle Scout Project

Young’s of Ridgefield  joined forces with James Dunphy, a Boy Scout in Ridgefield’s Troop 76, to bring shade to the bocce courts at Founders Hall.  James, a Senior at Ridgefield High School, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout after completing his project at Founders Hall.  He installed two beautiful new pergolas to provide much needed shade to the bocce playing members at Founder’s Hall.  Young's was happy to support James and Founders Hall by donating our time and expertise by sending over two of our crew members, Edgar and George.  They did a great job assisting  James and his volunteer team of  Boy Scouts  in the proper installation of the posts for the pergolas.  Congratulations to James on achieving rank of Eagle Scout!

New Composting Facility in Ridgefield

The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority recently completed a new composting site for Ridgefield residents.  Young's was happy to partner with them to completely fence in the new site.  Young's donated all the fencing as well as the time required to install it.  To learn more about the new composting center in Ridgefield, please click here.

Rising Starr Horse Rescue

Young's of Ridgefield partnered with Rising Starr Horse Rescue in Wilton, CT to rebuild some of their fencing that was in disrepair.  Rising Starr Horse Rescue saves, rehabilitates, retrains and rehomes abandoned, neglected or abused horses.  They also educate the public about at-risk horses and the importance of protecting them. By giving America's horses a second chance at life, they give our local community the chance to experience the love, patience, and compassion horses have for humans.  Young's is happy to support their mission and loves to visit with the horses!

Farm to Firehouse Initiative

Young’s of Ridgefield teamed up with Angelina Cerulli, a local Girl Scout, to bring fresh produce to the Ridgefield Professional Fire Fighters and other first responders in town.  Angelina, a student at Wooster School in Danbury, CT, created a “Farm to Firehouse” initiative as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award.   She built a vegetable garden at Fire Station #2 in Ridgefield and

Young’s Fencing  donated our time and materials for the garden.  With so much wildlife in the area, the first step to a successful garden is insuring it is protected.  Proper installation of the fencing is vital to a garden’s longevity and the professionals at Young’s are experts at installing garden fences.  We were happy to support the Ridgefield Fire Fighters and our local Girl Scouts.

Ridgefield Garden Club - Rose Arbor

The Ridgefield Garden Club reached out to Young's last Spring asking if we might assist in repairing the beautiful arbor in the flower garden at Ballard Park.  We were happy to help bring this beautiful arbor back to life just in time for the roses to bloom.

Barlow Mountain Garden Gate

Young's is happy to support  the Barlow Mountain Elementary School vegetable garden (and all the other wonderful schools in Ridgefield) by maintaining their fence and fixing their gate whenever needed.   Each year we donate new pickets for each Barlow graduate to paint and leave their legacy behind. The littlest members of our community are our future and we love to share our knowledge of gardening with them.
